How to Decorate Your Room with Handmade Things?

Handmade Items

Hello Readers!! I am a homemaker and a blogger who manages the work efficiently both at home and at work. Being an independent female I want to have things organized, planned and executed properly in all the spheres of life. Both the work and home take quite a lot of time of the day, leaving very less time for me to look into the smallest things of the house. Although my in-laws and husband are quite loving and manage many things at home, the job to decorate the house is simply mine.

I have a profuse passion for decorating the house in the traditional ways. My style of beautifying the home with the handmade things helps me to organize the space better. It revolves around organizing the small little things like keeping a pen holder, a handmade diary, a candle holder and other things which will automatically keep the home clean.

My love for writing has developed in me the craze for the collection of pen and diaries as well. Although we have a separate room where writing the blogs while sipping a cup of coffee is pleasant and engaging, still I store a pen holder and the beautiful handmade diaries in our living room.

Not only me, but anyone can get hold of these diaries if they want to write something. The idea is to arrange for things that are needed very often and to make it easy for everyone to locate it. The diaries that I picked are all handmade with the traditional covers that are printed and designed in different patterns and prints.

Well, all three of us spend most of the times talking and relaxing in our living room. To make it snug and yet August, I have put up a wall hanging tapestry. It covers a large part of the wall behind the comfy sofas.

As I prefer the traditional prints and the make, the wall hanging tapestry that I used in the living room is made of the patchwork, dominated by the patterns of elephants all over. Such a wall hanging tapestry looks majestic and pronounces the class of the decor itself.

Other than the living room, I have made good use of the wall hanging mandala tapestry in our bedroom as well. Now the room looks very cozy and comfortable. The wall hanging tapestries are good to maintain the temperature of the wall as well keeping the room very comfortable.

I have tried to keep the home very restful and comfortable. Keeping this in mind, the lights in the room are not bright except that in the study room and our office. Largely, for lights in the rooms, I have used lamps and the candle holders.

These candle holders and lamps are painted beautifully and crafted by hands and are unique. My friends who visit me regularly, really likes my candle holders and the way in which I have made the light arrangements.

For a better lighting, we have the candle holders kept over the fireplace as well. Along with the other decorative handmade pieces, the lit candles here serves two purposes; one gives sufficient light and second reflects light on our family photo. And of course, we enjoy our dinners in the candle lights. A beautiful piece of the candle holder is placed right in the center of the dining table enabling us to see the food right.

Staying away from your motherland is a big deal even if we stay here as a family. I understand the rituals and the cultures that my in-laws value. How much modern we get, we do not forget our values and culture.

I know my mother in law also loves the traditional decor, especially on each festival. Keeping her choices in my mind, I have put up the beautifully crafted Toran on the main door and on the door of our room where we worship God.

With each festival, we replace the old Toran with the new ones. It keeps us close to our culture in our simple way. These handmade Torans adorns the door and offer a warm welcome to our guests.

Other than these Torans, I made a wise decision of buying and hanging a traditional handmade wall hanging tapestry with the patterns of Om. For me, it raises the energy in the air and fills the room with lots of positivity.

To manage the small things like the incoming emails, letters, bills and other such similar things, I have used the wall hangings that can store these items. Also, for me, it becomes easy to check for the new emails and the pending bills. That is simply my way of organizing the stuff at home.

Few wall hangings are simply the decorative piece to enhance the beauty of the walls. The artistic handmade walls are a lot better as they are easy to maintain and comes within the budget as well.

Not only this, for the extra seating arrangements everywhere in the house, I choose the ottomans that are comfortable to sit. The beautiful coverlets or these pouf covers are made with attractive patches. The best part is they are made in cotton and hence are easy to manage for me.

The colors of these pouf coverlets are bright enough to team up with the rooms decor. These handmade pouf covers are quite traditional completing the classic looks of my home. Other than this, you can also smartly choose the right bedding set for your bedroom.

We still do not miss our homeland with these personalized traditional home decor. Miles away from our country, these handmade things take us closer to our roots only.
